House breaking - Dog gives no sign

I have a 5 month old Keeshund and she never gives me a sign she has to go potty.   She has to be with us so mich that I think she just won't tell us she has to go.  Then she makes a mistake.  I spend a lot of time with her outside so normally it's not a problem.  But everytime I let her go on the carpet she goes potty on it.  Why won't she go to the door and bark or something?  I use the same door and praise her outside when she goes.  I also always use the same command, "go potty" and she goes.

Some dogs take longer to learn how to control their bladder and tell you they want to go.  Our pomeranian was almost 1 before he was completely housebroken.  But then again we got him at 6 months.

One trick I found very helpful was to hang bells on the door handle.  I have around 4 or 5 bells that I picked up at an ornament shop.  Push your dog's nose into the bells and say "out" at the same time, then open the door and let them out while praising lavishly.  Soon they'll catch on and ring the bell on their own. Praise and treat them when they do that, and let them out immediately.  Our gsd pup learned this in about 3 days.

As he gets better at this, then you can get him to wait before going out so he doesn't boss you around with his new toy. [:D]

Thanks.  I'll give that a try.  Here's a pic of Keisha.  I hope it works.

Oh Keisha is so adorable she looks like a little stuffed animal, how cute!
When rory was a pup I hung a bell at her level right by the back door and everytime it was time to go out I would grab her paw and ring it. She was a littel hesitant at first, maybe even a lil scared but I persisted. After about a week I was sleeping all cozy in my bed and I heard "ding ding ding" I was so excited.
Beofre I tried this I also noticed that she wouldnt go potty if she felt like she was under pressure. She would wait by the back door being very stubborn. I had to pretend I was out there just for fun and I started little things like bouncing a ball against the building, checking my flowers and stuff like that instead of standing their in the cold saying "go pee go pee"! Maybe she figured "well as long as were out here" but it worked!
