House Training an older crested

hi i recently rescued a 5 1/2 yr old chinese crested powder puff from an abusive home and he is not very well house trained and extremly skittish i was wondering if anyone had any ideas that might be able to help me i love this dog he's really a good dog but we are having trouble getting him house trained

Hey there, I was just reading that last link (dumb friends league) on the post I put up. At the end, really seems like a very important point. When your dog is being afraid ignore him/her. By re-assuring (praising) her or giving out treats, will only encourage behavior.

As we know, treats and praise encourage behavior. But sometimes we forget these points when they are serious like your dogs problems.
