Training Puppy to sleep all night!

Hi!  I am new to this forum but I have already learned so much!  I have an 13 week old Beagle puppy and he is pretty much potty trained.  I know that puppies can only hold their blatter for a certain time but when he whines in the middle of the night and I wake up and take him out- he is ready to play!  How can I train him that he needs to go back to sleep?  Any tips would be great! Thank U!

DO you have him in a crate? I have my 10 week, 6 day old in one at night and when I cannot watch him. If he wakes me up at night whining, I dont turn on ANY lights, and I quietly pu this leash on and go out the door..quietly. He goes potty and we go back in quietly and I gently put him in the crate. I also cover his crate with a blanket it seems to calm him in general. He typically goes back to sleep after settling in a little and a little whine here and there. I also ensure he has pleny of plenty of toys in there to keep him occupied just in case.

Mine are covered with a blanket, also.
The trick to taking him potty is making sure you don't give in to him wanting to play..
Ignore it, let him do his business, and put him back in his crate.

When your puppy was at the breeder (or wherever you got him), he slept at night there, too.  Sure if you wake him up and toss a ball, he'll play, but dogs aren't nocturnal.  If you keep it dark like someone else said, and only take him out, let him do his business and take him right back into his crate, he'll go back to bed.

My puppy could sleep 7 hours overnight at 9 weeks old.  He sleeps in his crate in our bedroom and he sleeps when we sleep.  If for any reason he had to go in the middle of the night, he would whine and we'd get up to take him out, but we'd all go right back to sleep after.  A puppy can hold his bladder longer when he's just sleeping.  Playing and handling will obviously move the bladder and put pressure on other organs and make him go more often.
