5 month Tibetan Terrier goes wild when out of his cage...

Hobbes is very patient when in his cage... He is quiet and doesn't whine... But once we let him out, he is very hard to control and gets really wild!!! He grabs anything he sees like loose paper, shoes, socks, anything he can get a hold of. He even barges into the bedrooms and tears up the pillow cases (we have swinging doors). He is uncontrolable and my family is getting frustrated. Especially the kids. How can we calm him down? Thanks for any help!

It sounds to me like this little guy has alot of energy. You may have to take him for extra long walks and have extra playtime to wear him out. How long do you leave him in his cage and how old is he???????????

He is 5 months old and takes walks of at least an hour and 30 minutes, maybe even 2 hours...  When i'm gone for work, he is in his crate for about 4 hours until my wife gets back for lunch. She then walks him for at least 20 minutes. Then the kids come home from school and play. They are doing great with the click training btw! So he gets a lot of attention when someone is home.

    Hi Alex,
Well, he is only a pup so he will be full of energy. If you have a fenced yard maybe he can spend more time outside. One thing though,  if he is allowed out in the yard please make sure that he is checked on regularly. Accidents can happen in a split second and he can also dig himself out. Dogs usually don't slow down until they are a couple of years old.
I have 2 Jack Russels and my 6 yr old is as busy as my 1 year old.
