Hi everyone. I just found this site and am new to the world of dog forums. I have a three-year old mix (Beagle/JRT/Pointer) that until recently was fully house trained. Then, a few months ago, I began working from home and I think my dog has gotten a little spoiled. She now has an accident almost every time I leave the house - even if it's only for a few minutes. I know dogs aren't supposed to be spiteful but it truly seems like she is just doing it to get back at me for leaving her alone. She has never had an accident while my wife or I are home and can easily go 8-10 hours between walks, but if we leave her alone she will almost always pee and/or poop in the kitchen - even if she had just gone outside a few minutes earlier. I went back to the crate for a couple months and she never has an accident in the crate but as soon as we stop using it she starts going in the kitchen again. I prefer not to use the crate because its odor tends to linger throughout the house.
Any ideas?
