• Potty trained dog wets inside at night Alexis Correia Posted : 8/27/2006 1:43:25 PM My three year old Toy Rat Terrier wets on the carpet sometimes at night while we sleep.  He is potty trained and we have a dog door so he can go outside whenever he needs to.  He does not wet on the carpet while we are home/awake.  When we are not home he is crated.  How can I get him to stop wetting the carpet while we sleep instead of going outside?  He knows the drill.  It is really hard in the winter because he is only 7 lbs so when it's cold he does not like to go outside, but he has been wetting inside all summer as well.  I tried putting down newspaper/pee pad and he will still go on the carpet.  My other dog does not have issues with going outside at all.    LIKE 4 REPLIES 224 VIEWS LAST POST JONES Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Posted : 8/27/2006 1:57:51 PM What do you use toclean the areas where he has gone?  If the odor is lingering (for him, not  you), then he thinks it's okay to return to that spot.  You need to use an enzymatic cleaner to break down the odors, which may help.  Otherwise, then maybe crate him in the evening as well. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. At 3 years old there is no physiological reason for him to pee in the middle of the night in your house (especially when he has free access to the outdoors).
