    Active Puppy vs Old Dogs

My husband and I have two large mixed breeds, named Jack and Floyd, who are going to be13 years soon.  We're lucky since they don't have health problems and are still pretty active for their age.  The other day my husband surprised our 5 year old daughter with a very active, mixed breed puppy, named Kenny, who is about 5 months old.  The problem is that Kenny constantly wants to play with Jack and Floyd and never ever gives them a break.  They tolerate him but they get annoyed and tired.  The only solution so far is for me to ;put Jack and Floyd in another room for them to rest.  How can we teach Kenny to stop attacking (playing) Jack and Floyd, so we can enjoy everyones company in the same room?  It's been so long since we had a puppy in the house.  I'd appreciate every suggestion.  Thank you

Give your puppy some other toys to play with. A giant plush dog toy would be wonderful for him to snuggle and jump on, while your older dogs can take a break. He is only doing what puppies like to do, PLAY. But make shure he understands the difference between a toy and a non-toy.

I have a similar problem - my parents have a five month old puppy (Sophie) who constantly wants to play with my 6 year old dog (Beauty).  Beauty was tolerant at first, and sometimes played with Sophie, but now she just seems annoyed whenever Sophie comes near.  She will bark or growl, and try to get away, but Sophie will not give up.  We have to physically separate them.

I would love any suggestions.  Sophie has lots of toys and loves playing with them, and with us, but nothing and nobody interests her as much as Beauty does.

Oh my, your situation is so much like mine, just substitute the names!  The only difference is that I have the puppy and my parents have the older dog.  Maizy is 6 yrs and Buddy is 12 wks.  All Buddy will do is jump on Maizy and she DOES NOT like it.  If I keep him on a leash, she will approach him on her own terms and will move away from him if he gets too hyper.  My mom and I feel so bad that they don't get along because we are always together, live 15min. apart and would love for them to be good friends.  I'm hoping that if they can be together more often, it will condition both of them.  Hopefully, right?
