    Very Odd...

We, my family, own a cockerspaniel.  Lately, she has been very odd.  She has been "wetting" the beds and very clung to us.  She is always following extremely close to us and sometimes trips us up.  Another thing is she has been shaking violently and breathing/panting heavily. We have taken her to the vet a couple times this month to get her checked out, and they diagnosed that she has headaches.  I feel that there is more to it than this, however.  Any insights?

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of experienced people here (not me) who can give you good advice. Tell us more about your dog. What is it's name? Age? How long has this behaviour been going on? How often does it occur? Anyother medical or behavioural history?

Good luck, I hope someone can help you.

Her name is Lucy, she is around 7 years of age.  She has been acting like this for about the past month now.  She is taking some kind of tranquilizer and i forget the other med.  Doesn't seem to be doing much anyhow.  She never really has a past medical condition, she's normally in tip-top shape.  I have noticed that she has a cyst on her upper torso and her eyes are starting to look like she has cataracts.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Older dog with sudden incontinence, shaking & panting...that would make me want to ask about kidney disease.  Is she drinking more, or does her urine smell?  At least have a urine test done to see if she has elevated BUN & creatinine or a UTI.  It's a relatively cheap test and it can't hurt.

She has been drinking, but not as much.  She also has lost her appetite significantly.  She needs to be walked in order to go to the bathroom now too.

And apparently she was checked for kidney disease back in May. All was okay...

I may be off base as I am NO expert on health but, my sister has an older (13) cocker who has cushings disease. From what she told me it is a condition where they over produce steroids. Sympotoms are frequent urination, excessive thirst and MANY lumps and bumps over the body. It might be worth looking up to see if it fits. Her dog also has developed cataracts. I don't know if it is realted to cushings however.

Even if things were okay in May, they may not be okay now.  Health problems can come and go without warning.  She's exhibiting symptoms now...now is the time to get her tested.
