To mark the premiere of the new season of Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan will appear at Canoga Park PETCO in Los Angeles on Friday, Sept. 7 from 4 – 7 pm. The first 100 people in line will get a chance to meet Cesar one-on-one and watch the season premiere episode with him on-site.

well, since i live closeby, i decided to go over there around 1:30PM this afternoon and check out the situation. the line wan't very bad so i got into the line. i had taken by book with me "just in case" and i am glad that i did.
(the first person there was in line at 2AM - lol)

anyway, after standing and sitting in line for 2.5 hours, they started to shuffle people into Petco to get their pictures taken with Ceasar... and so now I have a side by side picture of me and CM....

the whole event was highly scripted. anyway, since he was first doing pictures with people, there was no chance of getting him to sign the book.

after the picture signing, people (only the 1'st 100 people - i was number 40) were ushered into the outside tent to where we were going to watch the 1'st season 4 premire. C< entered quietly and say in the back. i noticed that they guy who was in line at 2AM had gone to get CM to sign his book - so I went to the back of the tent and got him to sign my book as well. Of course, there was a bodyguard who had to ask CM if he wanted to sign my book.... i think that maybe he signed only 3 or 4 books... so i got luicky.

    I had him personalize it:

    Hey (coyote)
You need to go for a walk!
    From:
    Ceasar Millan

    [:D]

as for the new episode opener, i see that he has used finally used some +R techniques in rewarding the dog with some cheese - hehehehe

    anyway, it was fun....

Ah-ha! Cesar is expanding his tool-box!

yeah, his fist session involved 4 people in an apartment complex. with the most assertive dog, he ended up using cheese as a reward. (also as a distractor for the dog to choose between the smell of cheese and going after a dog passing in front of the screen door)

that ought to appease some of the +R folks around here [8D]
    (well, maybe not)

NGS spokesman said there were 35 episodes for this season. and yes, i think it's interesting to watch him evolve.

I've watched a few episodes of this and I have to admit that I do not like most of his training styles.  He's smart, he knows what he is doing, but somethings off... at least with me.

    thornley

can you provide more details about what you think it might be that puts you off? Just curious.

Just keep in mind, the guy is intelligent and knows what he is doing.  But he shows a lot of dog owners how to do things you normally should not.  Equate it to the Crocodile Hunter going out and explaining how to wrestle an alligator, you see him do it, it looks easy... but are you really going to do that?

My biggest issues with his methods is he seems to put himself as a "Dog Leader"... not a "Human Leader."  This is bad in my opinion since any dog may think it is ok to vie for pack leader and attack back.  Getting physical with a dog in the ways he does should only be used as a last resort and should not be shown as a way of correcting issues to the mass public.

People will adopt these methods and end up hurting their dogs or their dogs hurting them.  Their are postive methods to ensure that your dog looks at you as the leader/provider.... making the dog want to keep you alive and well.

Sometimes his methods are great and work perfectly... and should be used.  I just see him get physical way too often.

would be nice, but I think he is going to have to peform an alpha roll (him not the dog) and submit before they will forgive him.[:)]

I enjoyed the first episode, and I think it is great that you got to meet him Coyote and get him to sign your book. Sounds like fun.
I like Cesar and it is great to watch him change, everyone has been through the process of growing but it is rare that you get to see it live. I don't think he has ever been against treats as I have heard him mention them before but he seems to be toning himself down a bit, not changing his philosopshy but maybe trying to make it more understandable to the critics.

Anyway it will be fun to have a new season to watch.

I loved the first show! Yeah, the cheese. I noticed he tried his usual methods and "they didn't work" so he went to the cheese. I see him changing around the order of what to try first before the season's over. Did you also see how he nearly chastised the guy for rolling the little chi? That was pretty cool. The chi was just excited.

I look forward to a great season ahead! [:)]

yeah - lol.... the chi didn't deserve it so i am glad he told the owner (with those real fancy glasses) that it wasn't nessessary.

btw, my wife said that guy with the fancy glasses is a "clothes freak" lol

    i enjoyed the episode.

especnce - i will post a picture on monday - if i can find a scanner - and if i do, shall i put my coyote avatar over the top of my human face to preserve my identity?

I was going for the line in the commercial and going with my feeble memory, i got it wrong - lol

    the commercial reads:

    "Hey, you need to walk!"

and i told him to write:

"Hey, you need to go for a walk!"

    ======

did 7 miles all the way up sullivan canyon this morning and back - ~1000 feet of elev. gain - took us 3 hours and my dogs are all tuckerd out now.

If you have 3 eyes and look like a monster maybe [;)], if not i dont think there is no body here that would think something different from your normal human face [8D]

I have mine with him from last october and this december will be time to update it [:D]

Man, I wanted to say that.

And judging by this thread, perhaps CM is changing. Or the appearance is changing. As is often said before, the show is edited. And sometimes, I get what I ask for. Such as seeing him have a greater understanding of learning theory and motivation. And, possibly, he might have seen how all the dog rasslin' wasn't doing much good for the pulic.

I will concede that it is possible for a person to change.

I used to scruff. Used to.

I may have to watch the show again.

Wasn't the show good tonight!? I loved that he almost gave up on the woman but not the dog and then she came around. That was cool and he was so happy! Yes
