Wasn't sure where to post this...

So if it's wrong, please move it and I apologize.
But this guy seems to be friends or at least "friendly" with C.M. and wondered if any of you CM fans might be aware of this guy's training techniques or at least heard of him or of anyone who has used him.
    [linkhttp://www.chicagodogtrainer.com/chicago_dog_training.html]Force Free Training Method.[/link]

I do not understand what "force free" training method consists of and I searched for about an hour on this site and could not find an exact definition and an example of the techniques.

There's pictures of CM and Marc in various places on his site. Does cesar ever mention Force Free methods?
    • Gold Top Dog
It didn't give much info did it?

It sounds as if you drop your dog off for ten days.
    • Gold Top Dog
Hey i also have a pic with CM, can i say he supports my methods?

I never heard about this method, CM never mentioned it before that i know of, i think he just uses his pics with CM to make people believe that he has some kind of "relation" with him or his methods, he wants to take advantage of CM's popularity, that way he can get more clients but he does not mention anything about it at all in that webpage

When i saw him with CM i was like "ok and? i have a pic like that one, so?"
    • Gold Top Dog
er...yeah, not to sound stupid, but I thought perhaps CM and this Marc guy perhaps endorsed eachother.
So I thought that maybe CM might use some of his techniques.

Again, I'm done with the CM forums.

I know what this is.  I don't agree with it and I don't think CM endorses this.  In fact, on CM's site they now have a section dedicated to blow the whistle on people out there that are using his name and pictures to "claim" CM is endorsing them.  Apparently this is NOT true.  They now list the businesses and people that are legitimate CM endorsees, and also the ones who do not have permission to do so.

This E-touch system is from some guy and his wife name Heeley I believe.  If you Google E-touch training you will find a bunch of trainers that went to his seminar and became certified E-Touch trainers under him.

It uses an E-collar to train dogs.  That's it.  Nothing magical.  I have never heard CM mention this or endorse anything like this.  He uses dog psycology, not equipment.

To be a little more accurate, CM did use a E-collar once in the episode with the black GSD and the cat.

I've been to one of Cesar's seminars and also have a picture of myself with him. So have a lot of people. This does not mean I was personally trained by Cesar or that he endorses anything I do when I work with a dog.

In reality, Cesar has only personally trained a few people. Linn Boyke and Cheri Lucas are the only two I know of. I've seen an endorsement for Cheri on his site, and Linn is the only one endorsed by Cesar to teach others through his workshops and intensive 30 shadow program. That's it.

I've seen a few sites out there where his name is used as a draw to the site, yet there is nothing in the site which really uses his philosophies at all, kind of a bait and switch scheme.

I've seen one site where the site owner has trademarked "dog psychology method" as their own. Huh?

There are lots of trainers and canine professionals who use and endorse Cesar's basic principles (and recommend his book and show to their clients) whether they were already using a similar philosophy before his show airred, or incorporated some of his teachings (which made sense to them) into what they were already doing.

But, I'd beware of anyone who claims to be personally trained or endorsed by Cesar in order to sell training packages.

ETA: The only professional organization Cesar endorses when looking for someone to help you with your dog, is the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) at: [linkhttp://www.dogpro.org/]www.dogpro.org/[/link]

Further tips and information can be found on Cesar's DPC site:

    [linkhttp://www.dogpsychologycenter.com/dpc/dpcresources.php]http://www.dogpsychologycenter.com/dpc/dpcresources.php[/link]

There is no current certification being offered through the IACP which is specific to a "behavior expert". I understand they are working on something along those lines, though.

Yes, that is correct.  He did use an e-collar in a few episodes I believe.  Wasn't there an e-collar on the farm dog that ran in front of the tractor??

What I meant by that was that CM doesn't rely on e-collars for every dog and call it a training method.  These guys are using his name to promote themselves and clearly it has become such a problem that there has become a need to "out" these people and make a disclaimer on his site.

I knew there was something fishy going on.

No force, leave your dog for 10 days, guaranteed lifetime training.

    What a scam!
    • Gold Top Dog
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.  But, unsuspecting people will drop their dogs off to anyone who makes a "guarantee" and will do the training "fast".  Would you pay over $2,000 to have someone shock your dog?????  Not me. [:@][:'(]
    • Gold Top Dog
Most likely you would get a guranteed lifeless, dull, no personality object lying around your house.

LH at it's finest. I don't see how it can produce anything else.

10 days of shock therapy would take the life out of anything I would think.

I am back for this thread.

I just want to make clear that I wasn't planning on using this for Ella.
Someone on another board is in Palos Hills Illinois and was looking for training. My trainer is further than they want to travel and some of the places I linked were too expensive.
So...I did a search for trainers near that area and I came up with this place.
I couldn't for the life of me figure out how they actually trained the dogs.
    I didn't realize they used an E-collar.

I won't use an e-collar on Ella, EVER. AND, I would NEVER drop my dog off somewhere for 10 days. Not to somewhere she's unfamiliar with and somewhere where I cannot be with her. I'd be a basket case.

Oh, I don't think you gave the impression that you were interested in this.  Just checking to see what it was.

They call it "force free" and "hands off", but they are using mild shocks to get the behavior they want.
    • Gold Top Dog
It's weird, too, because I could've sworn that they claimed not to use any harsh equipment at all (or any equipment) that's why I couldn't understand HOW they were training these dogs.
