    No sleeping IN!!!

After my Fiance leaves for work, my 7mo old St. Bernard jumps into bed with me,which I allow. The only problem is, he lays on top and parallel to me. His elbows dig right into me. Is he trying to protect me now that he know's dad has left for work? or is he trying to show his dominence? Please help! I work nights and need to sleep after dave has left for work!

You're the human. [;)] If you don't want to be laid on, either make the dog scoot over, or get off the bed. You are allowed to claim your rights to your own bed. Any dog smooshing me and refusing to move gets put on the floor in a hurry. With a St. you're setting yourself up for a LOT of smooshing if you don't stop it while he's not huge (I was gonna say "while he's still small", but at 7 mos I doubt he's very small hehe).

If he gives you lip about getting down or scootching over, it probably would be a good idea to start on a NILIF program post haste.

I doubt it's either protection or dominance - just your basic snuggling. [:)] My dog likes to sleep jammed up against me too, but he's only 23 lbs unlike yours! Ditto what Laura said, either he moves over or he gets the boot. If he really wants to lay in bed he will probably get the picture eventually and just give you some room.
