Hey all -
Been awhile since I posted. Lots of progress since then! Mostly good stuff, but some strange developments.
Last I wrote I was having problems with our 1 year-old adopted fem. Beagle. She's got separation anxiety and isn't fully house-trained. We've discovered the anxiety problem is MUCH better since we're not confining her to her crate or a small room while we're gone. It used to be she would bark, howl and whine from the moment we shut the door to leave to the moment we came home. Now she's going for longer periods of time before the barking starts, and it doesn't last as long. She's had a great track record of not destroying anything valuable - until today. We came home and she had DESTROYED a patch of carpet about 6" x 8" adjoining our sliding glass door. Not sure when it happened. Perhaps right after we left or possibly in the middle of the day - something may have spooked her or gotten her riled up. That's a first offense. There goes our security deposit... She's got loads of toys & chewies to keep her busy, so not sure what happened today.
She does okay with the house training. We take her out for a good walk & run in the A.M. before leaving for work, and most days she will pee, poo, or both, but some days she does neither - even if we take her out again about 15 min. later. While we're gone during the day we leave paper down on the kitchen floor, and she's been pretty consistent about using it. However, it's becoming more frequent that we take her for a walk in the evening, she won't go, then we leave to go grocery shopping, etc., and when we come home after no more than an hour she's either gone poo on the carpet near the front door or peed on the paper in the kitchen. Not sure why she won't go when we walk her but goes soon after we leave.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again for the help, everyone!
