    Odd Behavior

I have a 1.2 year old pitbull/greyhound mix that LOVES to chew.  About 3 months ago, I bought him some of those bimple bones. He loved them!! I got him 2 more yesterday, in the same flavors as last time. Well, he took 1 of them and walked around the house with it in his mouth and whining the whole time. He put it under our bed,in the corner of the living room, and on his chair, whining the whole time. He has never done this before. I can tell his mouth doesn't hurt as he is eating and chewing other things fine. Any suggestions?

I tell ya, I have a pit and never thought I'd find durable toys that would last longer then a day for her. Plus they can get exspensive! Here is what i found to be "bully proof"

    -Cow hoofs
    -Nylabones
    -Bully Sticks
    -Tire Toys
-my neighbor buys wheel barrow tires for her pit but I'm nervouys about the ingestion of those
    -Kongs

Pitties can chew and chew for days, I'm sure you've learned to hide your sandals, remotes, etc, haha!
Chewing is a theraputic exersice the same way a baby uses a pcifier or favorite blankie so always encourage them to chew.....the right things of course!

Yes, it is a good idea to give your dog a lot of choices to chew on but i know what he is doing. My dog does this too, what he is doing is looking for a place to hide his new bone! As much as it sounds funny, it's true! my dog has done it more than once before and wants she found the right spot (and of course knew we weren't watching her) she hid it and stopped whinning!!

My dog does this too.  It took me forever to figure it out, and it was actually a post on this forum that made the light bulb go on.  He wants to *bury* the bone, but since he's inside he can't find a good spot.  (He buries toys outside.)

You could try putting some blankets or towels in a pile on the floor so he can bury the bone under there.  You might need to pretend a little to give him the idea.  It sounds a little crazy but it works for some dogs.

My dog always buries her toys. We were moving some things around and we found like tree toys varios places. I don't know how she even got one place, lol.

My dog does this all the time too. Today my husband found a bone that Rocky had "buried" in the shower...

Here is what i found to be "bully proof"

    -Cow hoofs

    -Bully Sticks

Wow!  The hooves are PH proof...but bully sticks...a 12 inch bully stick lasts about 45 minutes with Xerxes.  A 3 foot one he can finish in one work day.  The nylabones he won't even touch for more than 5 minutes.
