    Thank you.  Actually it was so simple to teach him this.  It is "Classical Conditioning" at its finest.  I believe in both Operant and Classical although now that all the basic commands have been taught, classical is all I need in most cases.  Beleive me he has more to learn, but this specific exercise was really easy - he assoicated my son, with going to the crate, and yummie treats.  I don't use a clicker but clicker training is all about classical conditining.  Believe me it was hard road in the beginning but once the basics were down the rest seems to come easier.

    Yes, how well I know about the 'hard road'.  HB and I are still working on sit, down, stay and come.  And 'come' is laughable. 
    I often wonder if;
    1. I am not a good dog trainer-type  (but I really, really try very hard)
    2. She is not a lot younger than I think (perhaps lots of puppy attitude to work beyond).
    3. She is a really stubborn dog.
    But, as stated, we keep working on it.

    Have you tried to have Bubby do something different when your DH is coming up the stair?  For example, how about giving him a nice bed in your office off to the corner and teaching him to down/stay on this bed. 
     
    How interesting,,,and thank you for your idea by the way.   I say interesting because I used to have a bed in my computer room,,,but I took it out just because I did not want Bubblgum to think this room his hers or that she had to protect her bed.  I have one in the hallway and one in the loft,,,just recently she dragged one of them into this room,,,,but here I thought it best to NOT have it in here.  HHHmmm,,,, I will have to try that!  
    ,,,by the way, she does NOT "nose me" when DH is around,,,,she does this when its just her and I when we first come into the computer room and I sit at the computer.   I guess she knows that the computer takes away attention from her......
