not sure where to put this so i posted in under problems too
I have 2 dogs a Beagle 12 & a Black Lab 8 both fixed for many years now. We came home from vacation (we have been home almost 3 weeks from a 1 week vacation when neighbors watched the dogs) we do this each year . The beagle has decided she no longer needs to do number 1 outside she will sometimes even try to squat right in front of me with out any indication she wants to go outside. The black lab has decided he no longer needs to do number 2 outside. I can let him out & then back in. 2 min latter while I am getting dressed he will go down to the the basement leave a pile It's nmot the same every day some times he will do it in the evening or both. This is driving me nuts & disgusting me. The lab knows he did wrong but apparently forgets. The beagle is clueless. Both sleep in dog cages at night but had the run of the house in the day. I can't let them have run of the house now. My children are home (teens) in the day so the dogs can't be completly bored now. Both dogs never went in the house until we got back from vacation this year. The beagle has other problems as crate training never worked for her. Goinng and sleeping next to it never bothered her so every morning there is a mess in the cage. Making the crate smaller did not help I just ended up having to give her a bath every night. I guess we just dealt with it over the years sweet dog just not to bright. The lab would let us know if for some reason in the middle of the night he had to go. During the day he would even let himself out if the screen door was open. Any ideas on the going in the house issues. We are pretty much at our witsend with this & the joy the dogs brought to our house is evaporating quickly.
