    My Baby Doesn't Love Me

I recently  rescued a 5 week old pit bull mix ;puppy. When I got him, he was not abused and not in terrible health either. I took him to the vet and he had hook worms and is now better. I've had him 2 weeks now. But the problem is he doesn't seem to wan't much of anything to do with me or anyone else in the house. I have two other dogs, 3 years old and 8 months old that he adores. He plays, barks, prances around the yard and loves his toys. When you approach him or even come near him he run away, under the table or bed. If you extend your hand out to him he backs away. Once you have him in your arms he is loving, wags his tail and kisses you. But this is only for a few seconds and he squirms to get away. I'm concerened that he may be a little stand offish when he is older. I shower my dogs with love and affection 24/7! Any suggestions on what the problem may be and what I should do? [:)]

The problem is that he left his litter at far too young an age.  For now he is more comfortable with other dogs.  Give him time and be patient with him.

Yep.  I agree with glenmar.  He was too young to leave his litter.

Chances are, since he is this shy he is only going to be comfortable with you and who ever lives with you. If you have company he will probably be very skitish and go hide somewere when he is older.

Wow 5weeks?  He has valuable lessons to learn from those other dogs, and I'm sure they'll help him out.  With time and patience he'll come around.  It's a good idea to get him socialized with other people as he gains more confidence, but not before then or he might regress.  Good luck!

Yikes... thats very young.  Right now you just need to be a good mommy support system for him, he will come around... dont worry.  Good luck!

He sounds like Cory when I first brought him home. Of course I pick the most frightened pup in the pound. *LoL* However, in no time he was my baby. He is now so loyal that my friends joke about it. They say if he was human, I would call him a stalker. :)
