    Overly horny

I have a lil pug named Squigs.  I've been havin problems with him from day one.  He's usually obedient, but then he goes around trying to hump things.  Random things.  People even. [&:]  I know dogs do that, but he seems overly obsessed with the idea of latching onto someone's leg and having a go.  I tried to get him a mate, but he just gnawed on her, and we had to give her away.  I don't suppose there's any way I can train him not to leave messes on my pants?

Have you tried to rub another dog on your pant leg?  He'll smell their musk and turn his backside to you leg.  You should try it.

Well if he is not neutered, neutering often has an impact on this behavior. You can also train and train, and train and oh yea train some more.

This is a pushy little dog who is doing as he pleases, obedience training, trick training and lots of excercise may help re direct this behavior.

Get him neutered if he isn't and train, train, train!

First, let me welcome you to the forum.  You can learn a lot here if you don't pay attention to people like me.  [;)]

You imply that you think humping is normal behavior and all dogs do it.  Let me assure you, all dogs don't do it.  It is rude behavior and should be stopped.  If this dog were mine, he would wear a leash and collar all the time, even in the house.  When he doesn't behave properly, whatever that means at any particular time, he would find himself getting a correction.

I have to second the neutering suggestion.  It would really be to his benefit all the way around.

I agree, get this guy neutered and train him not to hump.

Again, can't say it enough. Neuter him. Even if you get him a mate, he's still going to act like that. It's not a horny thing...it's a dominance thing. He's telling you who the boss is. And you let him keep going until you have a "wet leg?" When he starts, give him a "sit down" and "stop."
Even non-neutered dogs don't run around just humping everything. It's a training matter, not a sex matter.
