My puppy likes to chew or drag out clothing to lay on!

I have a puppy that started by chewing underwear and now that she can not find any to get ahold of she has resorted to getting our dirty clothing and dragging it up on to our bed while we are not home....  I'm getting fusterated on why she's doing this!  I am now moving every stich of clothing out of reach from her and I am afraid of what she will get into next.  Does any one have any reasons why she would be doing this and how to solve my problem?  She also hides when we get home since she knows shes in trouble. Does this habbit EVERY time we leave even for 30 min.  I'm hoping I can solve this with out having to put her back in her pen...

She is doing it because she is a dog.  That stuff smells like you an you are not around.  The best option is management,  You restrict her access by confining her or you restrict access by changing your behavior slecting a dog proof location where dirty clothes are stored until washed.

That is what I am trying now!  But since I got her where she was not able to get the underwear she found other clothing she wanted...  So I'm worried what else shes gonna start getting into now.  [:)]

the stars have to do with how many posts have been made.  they also reset occassionally.  Jaime is the best source of information on such issues (she is a moderator)

Personally,  i would crate her.  ALso makes it easy to find and rescue her if ever needed.

Well thank you!  I posted my message last night and no hits on it.  I reposted it today under behavior and you answered so I know it works.  Again thank you!  And how do you get some one else unless they reply?  Like who you suggested.

The clothing is a source of comfort for your dog when you're not there.  Try leaving a worn t-shirt in her crate or whereever she spends her time when you're away.  Limit her access to other areas though.  If you allow her the one piece of clothing I doubt you'll have more problems with missing/torn laundry.

When she takes the diry clothes is she destroying them? My dog Dingo does this everyday with my bfs clothes, but he just drags them on the bed and lays on them. Its kinda cute. Actually the other day I was noticing that my bf had hardly any underwear, so I looked under the bed and Dingo had stockpiled at leat 5 pair.LOL

With me my pup started chewing my underwear and we thought she was sick.... LOL  Then I started putting them in the hamper and she found a way in there!  So now I have them in a closed hamper and wash every other day.  Now that she can not get them any more she has started to take what ever clothing we just took off or is laying around thats dirty and dragging them up on to the bed to lay on them... Has not chewed them YET!  She also started digging in the corner of the couch to lay down and on the towel you lay on the bath room floor to get out she has started digging at it also before she lays on that.  She is 2 yrs old now and starting to show all different kinds of habbits, some funny and most ANOYING!  At least its nice to hear that it is not just my pup that likes laundry and dirty underwear.  I had to get all new ones at christmas because all I had was the pair i was wearing that day so I had no choise to go shopping.  That is when I decieded she was not getting another pair.  And that is when she started to go after my 2 little girls undies lol....  So I wounder what she is gonna get into NEXT !!!
