    Why do dogs...

Hey, all.  I was wondering the other day about a couple of things that all dogs seem to do, and I'm curious as to if anyone knows what inspires these particular behaviors:
    1) Why do dogs, especially puppies, get their favorite toy in their mouths and then just shake the heck out of it sometimes?
    2) Why do dogs, when they get really excited, run in circles around a room or yard, while making a low, growling / grunting sound?

These aren't, obviously, life or death matters; just a couple things I've wondered for a very long time.

Most of what puppies do is practice for being an adult dog.  Shaking is practice for killing prey, and the "zoomies", if that is what you are referring to, is good practice for the physical demands of the chase.
