    totally sporatic aggression

My dog has just turned a year old. He has been a wonderful puppy and we have never had any problems such as chewing, housetraining, or much in general....we lucked out. Within the last month he has, all of a sudden become extremly aggresive towards another dog (3 different situations) out of the complete blue, after even playing with these dogs for long periods of time. He is a cross between a lab and a rhodisian ridgeback and know that there are'nt many common probs with these breds. We have not had him neutred yet, he went in for the appointment and they heard a heart mummur so would not do it right away....any suggestions as to why he may be doing this type of behavior so sporatically?????

Is the other dog a male, or of similar age or status?

Can you describe his aggressive actions?  Can you describe how the other dogs were reacting to him before he got aggressive?  Give us some more info...

On the 3 occaisions 2 dogs were male and 1 was female. They have all been puppies, but all different breeds. He had been playing and interacting with all the dogs fine for a long time before each encounter, playing and doing dog things...

Get him neutered as soon as the vet will allow it.  This will terminate some of the aggressive behavior as the testosterone levels decrease a bit.

When you say aggressive behavior, what do you mean?  Loud growling and wrestling? or outright attacking with the intent of causing harm?
I've seen alot of wrestling, mouthing with loud growling misinterpreted as "aggression."

Also one more thing...if there's a non-spayed female dog in heat anywhere near the vicinity, that could cause a rise in the aggressive behavior, if your dog thinks that his "friends" are competing for the right to breed.

No it is different than his growling play, he has spent a lot of time around other dogs. It is a much stronger growl and definitly attacking....sort of worries me cause he has NEVER EVER shown anything like this before. i'm really hping that it is just a matter of getting him neutered....
