Dog has changed since the snip

About two months ago we got a cute little terrier cross breed from a rescue kennel. Excellent behaviour, knows sit and beg and rolls over when told off, he knows his boundaries. We'd only met about 4 big dogs with our time with him before the snip, he was absolutely fine with them.

Being so young he was making a mess all the time, you know [8|] white gloopy spots on the sofa or on women, so we got his balls removed...expecting his behaviour to change less being such a quiet nice dog.

Now it seems whenever he goes near another dog he nips at them, bites them in the face, or this morning hanging off their tail, something he wouldnt have done before the snip!

I thought having the snip calmed them down, it seems its made him more violent towards other dogs!

Why could this be? How can we possibly teach him not to bite other dogs?

It seems to me something else is causing this behavior and not being snipped.
Could you tell us exactly what is going on between the other dog and yours or are they in the same home. Is the dog meeting strange dogs??
    More input needed....lol

This happens in the street or at the park where we take him. They are dogs he's not met before.

Its a case of they sniff each other for about 5 seconds then he'll snap at there face and cause a fight, highly embarassing. Today he actually clung onto a dogs tail after we pulled him away for nipping its face.

I have noticed he'll play bite us now, hes got more confident with us, but its only playing, certainly not like how he bites the dogs in the park.

One thing I can think that could have triggered it, we took him to my parents who had two old pekignese, one is very vicious due to his age, and as soon as we brought Toby in the pekignese attacked him biting his back leg and going crazy at him. Since then onwards it seems he's started nipping others. Think that could have caused it?

I certainly think this has more to do with it than the neutering.  Neutering normally helps prevent aggression toward other dogs.  I think he is fearful.  Dogs that have had a bad experience know that they are "stuck" when on lead, and they often figure that the best defense is a good offense, so they bark and snap at the oncoming dog.  Another cause for this could be that your dog has not had constant socialization with other dogs since puppyhood.  Get a copy of "Scaredy Dog" by Ali Brown - it will help you deal with this.

So perhaps introducing him to more dogs but telling him off when he snaps and then reintroducing him?
