    Jumpy mouthy 2 year old

I have a great 2 year old rescue dobie who is as sweet as can be. The only problem is that he tends to be very jumpy and mouthy when playing with me and mouthy when playing with other dogs. Any ideas on how to make him stop, Very concerned about the mouthyness, Thanks!!!

hmmm... the next time he gets mouthy with you, i'd try saying "ouch" in a loud voice, walking away and stopping playtime to show him it is unacceptable. you can return after a while and play with him later, but if he starts mouthing, do the "ouch" thing again. it'll take a few tries but i'm sure your dobie will get the message.

    Hmmm....
    • Ouch , turn to your back or walk away

    or
    • When he does that, stay still in place, no smile or laugh, serious look as if you really mean it, tell him no ?? (whatever you want) until he stops.  After you said no ??,  don't say anything else and just stay still with the serious look.  [&:]  It's going to take a few times until it work, it worked for me.

    Wish you luck!!

I'm having the same dilemma with my dobey. He's nrly two. Iv tryed the 'no' then seriouse look walk away but he thinks this is also part of the game and follows me and bites my bum! I tryed shutting out the room when he got too carried away for 5 mins or so, then he'd realise what he'd done and sit down beside me for a few mins sulking, lol

He doesent get too carried away now but still needs me to be firm, now i sorta point to the door and he'll lie down and look at me. I think its that whole excluding him from the pack for his behaviour thing that worked for me, but it did feel mean shutting him out [:(] I"m too soft! Now when he wants to play he brings his strange toy thing and puts it on my arm and waits. He's a very strang dog, lol!
