Barking in Crate

I agree with Jaime and with Brenda (aren't I diplomatic?).  Yes, it's good to get lots of different ideas, that way the person who's looking for help can decide what's best in their situation.  HOWEVER, if I didn't know as much as I do about dogs, and had banged on his crate I can promise you that either he or I would now be in a looney bin.  So, one must take into account the story of the dog that needs help, as the poster may be dealing with their first dog and not have a good knowledge base to draw on.

For future reference, if anyone looks for advice on this kind of thing, the way I solved the problem was by shutting the blinds in the house, that helped.  But, what was the final icing on the cake is that I moved the barking one's crate to the room that Misty always hangs out in when we are gone, and pointed his door at her pillow where she always rests when left alone.  Before this, he was in the adjacent room that she may come and go from, that may have been adding to his anxiety, that he couldn't see her.  It's funny, because on the surface he acts like he couldn't care any less about her and I can tell she's not too awful happy about his intrusion in his life, but there's something more going on than is apparent.

    Let's all be nice.

I'm glad you figured out what was making your dog tick and found a way to resolve the problem. [sm=wink2.gif]
