Indoor Transitioning To Outside

We have two dogs, a 5 year old black lab mix and a 9 year old lab/mastiff mix. They've pretty much been indoor dogs their whole life.

However, next month we will be moving in with my parents for about 6 months while we save to buy a house. My dad has been pretty clear that th dogs can't be in the house and so I'm trying to figure out the best way to transition the dogs to outdoor living. We'll be putting up a big dog kennel that attaches to a shed that they can sleep in and escape from the elements. Is there anything elswe can do to ease their transition?
