Out of Control Puppy with Senior Dog

Hello..Any suggestions would be great.  We have a 6 month old Giant Schnauzer puppy.  We brought her home at 2 months and we already had two Maltese Males 10 and 8 years and a Standard Female Poodle, Jilly, with Cushings Disease that is 12 years old.

The Puppy Gigi is beautiful and fun, but she is WAY different from the other three "senior sit around all day" dogs.

The issue arises mostly in the morning and evenings when the whole family is home and  the Schnauzer wants to rough house.  She is body slamming the Standard Poodle and jumping on her etc.  The Standard can't keep control of her legs and falls to the floor.  She is shaking and unhappy.  I know dogs can usually protect themselves etc...but in this case it isn't happening.  What can we do??

Hi it can be very trying to have a young dog and senior dogs in the same house. The best advice I can give you is not to let the puppy get out of hand with the older dogs, end the play before it gets to be too much. Are you getting any kind of training for the new dog? Set up play dates for the puppy with dogs that match her energy level. I have a young Rottie who loves to play but my boyfriend had an older dog who likes to play but does not have the energy to match him. I find that keeping him busy with long walks and play dates keeps him out of trouble and he knows not to get to playful with her. Please keep me posted.
