We went to Lowes

I called the local LOWE'S Home Improvement store and asked for the general manager. I explained to him how Lillian is practicing to be a Therapy Dog and I would love to bring her to the store to work and expose her to noises and people. He was really nice and replied of course. That made me happy! I didn't realize they would be so dog friendly. But gosh is having this kind of public access helpful. So many new and strange noises to desensitize to. It was wonderful. We went tonight and walked around trying to go near all the strange moving vehicles or loud devices. We will be back for sure! Great practice. And I'm so proud of how she did tonight as well. Just wanted to share!

Very cool, you can also check with Tractor Supply and even local mall will sometimes let you walk the dog around in the common area between the stores. Keep up the good work, so proud of you guys!

That's cool they're being so accepting. I think if more people approached it as professionally as you did, store owners would be more flexible. It's a great way to help a dog learn to tolerate all kinds of sounds and such, which is beneficial even for non-therapy dogs!

Thank you everyone! Yes I completely agree, having this access would benefit many dogs. Hopefully it inspires other people to reach out to local hardware stores (or places you feel appropriate) and politely ask. You may be surprised! :) I am very happy as she was fully desensitized to all the surrounding pet supply stores. The home improvement store has more traffic, variety of customers, a lot more noises to experience... I'm one happy dog owner today!
