    Little Girl becoming Dominant

I have adopted a Labrador/ Pitbull mix and have had her now for five months. Training is going well, but lately she has been more dominant and aggressive than before. We live with several other older female dogs and a young family with a four year old. She is starting to snap more at the older dogs and even at other dogs on our walks in the area. I scold her every time she does it, but I am at a loss of how to make this behavior stop completely.

Lily is such a sweet girl and only 9 months old, but I people don't see that. They see her dominant and protective behavior as being the pitbull aggression. I have worked with training sled dogs that were part wolf and aggressive in their own way, but this is different somehow. Do any pitbull owners out there have any good tips?

Don't continue to punish her.  Punishing aggressive behavior is pointless and often makes the behavior worse.  The dog associates the other dog with the punishment and becomes even more aggressive.

Search Dr. Sophia Yin, Jean Donaldson, Ian Dunbar, Pat Millar, Patricia McConnell sites for how to counter condition your dog.  In the meantime, don't put her in a situation where she can be aggressive.  If that means you have to crate and rotate dogs, do that.  Condition her to wear a muzzle while you work on the aggression.
