    Hello Chewbecca, and thank you.
I miss my Zeus and Athena, They were so beautiful.Zeus was a very friendly dog as a pup, and Athena was a blonde, no offense to any blondes here [;)].
She was a beautiful fawn and white, he was tan and white.
he would play with the husky mix next door, they were about the same age.
one day my son told me that there was another dog in the yard well I turned on the light to find it was the neighbors husky mix, so i went out to put him back in his yard, when I went out , the dog was happy to see me so he jumped up on me, Zeus attacked him, I never seen this side of him, it was very scary.
at that time they were about 1.5 yrs old.
    Zeus never liked him again.
Athena was there also, but didnt attack him, she only was barking.
About 2 yrs later, it was early in the morning, I was getting ready for work, again I hear athena barking, but from a distance away, when I went out back, I could hear the poor dog screaming, I ran and got my son, he jumpped the fence, got them back, but I thought the dog was dead, I went next door to apologize to my neighbor who I have known for years, she saw the whole thing from her back window, what could I say, we cried together.
They were impounded, but my neighbor told the animal shelter that athena didnt attack, just barked, so she got to come home.
we even put up a new fence between the houses. I paid all vet bills, the shelter that kept my dog, plus my fine.
Almost 1 yr to the day, I was working in my cactus garden, my dogs tried to follow me in, I told them no, then after a time, where are my dogs?
I called them, athena was trying to get back through the fence where they had gotten out, they were killing kittens, the neighbor feed all the cats in the neigborhood.
My now Ex husband didnt nail 1 board down at the bottom, they found it and got through, again my neighbor watched it all happen.
I couldnt allow her to live in fear of my dogs.
I could walk both my dogs at the same time, when we came to every corner to cross, thay sat.
when we walked by fenced dogs, I stern NO, and they walked by.
It was when I wasnt watching them, so all be careful, and please dont say it couldnt happen.

elizabeth, i'm sorry about your dogs but am i reading that right? you had two high prey drive, dog aggressive, known escape artists and you continued to leave them outside unattended? and they paid for your mismanagement with their lives?!? :(

    Hello Gizmo

I had them in a dog run, when I was at work, then I would let them run when I was home.
when My dogs were impounded, my Ex-husband rebuilt the fence that separated the 2 yards, but, 1 board that he failed to nail down at the bottom part the dogs found and got threw.
And I was in the backyard with them when it happened, so yes it was my fault, and I live with that , I failed them.

I just want to add that I don't have bully breeds of any kind. I have breeds that are known for their NON-aggressiveness, and I still wouldn't leave them out and alone together. They haven't had a fight of any kind for the past 7 months and nary a growl passes between them on a regular basis, but I'm not willing to bet their lives that nothing would ever happen where they caused serious harm to one another. It just isn't worth it to me. Seperating them is easy to do and losing one of them in such a tragic way would be very, very hard.

Conrad is very domineering anyway and I know he'd just boss Marlowe around and horde all the toys and take all the good sleeping spots for himself. I think they both appreciate the alone time where they don't have to be social or engage in any of their silly little games with each other.

This reminds me of leaving kids together.   I call it the ole 'you ain't the boss of me' scuffle.

Kid one: "I'm the boss when mom and dad are gone cause I'm the oldest"
(pop upside the head to the younger)

Kid two "No! Dad said no one was the boss but him and Mom likes me better anyway cause I am the baby".
(double pop upside the head to the older, with a swift kick thrown in).

    And the fight is on.

There is little doubt that my dogs would have this conversation if they had the chance.

I don't think seperating your dogs when you leave them home alone has any thing to do whether or not they will fight or with having an aggressive breed.  I do it for their safety, no matter what breed I'm dealing with.  They're not capable of making decisions not to chew on wires, investigate an intersting sight or smell, or what if they're "zooming" through the house and knock something over that injures one of them?[:o]

Just last week, there was a post about a dog that had accidentally backed into a gas line or something and started a house fire, resulting in death.

And how about the awful posts about dogs that were "playing" and got stuck in each other's collar - one of those dogs were strangled to death before the owner returned home.

It's just not worth the risk to me. [&:]

There is another thread on here about a gsd killing a mutt dog.

A fellow rescuer has had 3 dogs killed in the last 6 months by other dogs non of them pits. The dogs killed were foster dogs (as are the dogs invovled in the killing) The first was attacked by a yorkie, and a shih tzu. Second a lab mix and a shih tzu. Not sure about the third. I got aggrivated after the second. (her dogs are still not seperated).

I'm sorry this is OT -  but [:@]OMG ! It sounds like that rescue needs to tighten up their approval process for fosters.  That is SO IRRESPONSIBLE of the foster AND the rescue for allowing her to continue to foster these pups when she is obviously not qualified to do it [:@]

I didn't read this whole post because I had to give my two cents before my thoughts where gone.  I feel so bad for the PB breed.  Their bad rap.  The people that get them because it strokes their ego infuriate me.  It's sad that the people that get these dogs don't invest the time or money to research the breed.  There has been some trouble in my town with PBs.  A year ago a mentally handicaped man was walking his yorkie down town and a pitbull attacked the little dog and killed it.  I was so sad to read about this story.  Sad for the yorkie of course, but also sad for the PB.  The PB was owned by a younger person that just either didn't care that his dog was aggressive or liked it.  Then just yesterday morning I was walking to work with my dog, and I heard a bark then a yelp.  It was on the same street as the yorkie attack.  A woman was walking her pug and there was a PB unsupervised outside of a coffee shop on a very long lead.  The woman put her head in the coffee shop and a young girl came out.  I could tell the pug owner was giving the girl a piece of her mind.  Then I heard the girl say, oh I know you just want to play, to her dog.  It infuriates me that people can be so careless and irresponsible with owning this breed.
I didn't tell these stories to give the PB a bad rap, but to emphasize the lack of responsibility many people have with this breed.  But it's comforting knowing that there are people out there that are spokesman for the breed.  Much like badrap.
I read somewhere that there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.  To a certain extent I definately agree.
