    skiddish

any input on a skiddish almost one yr old boxer mix with possible amer bulldog or pit. adopted at 14 weeks old socialized taking him to various pet stores and his litter brother also adopted shares same skiddish traits around people... He will quickly run past people sitting outside with us or lay down behind chair we have asked that no eye contact be made and he has made some half hearted attempts to gwt closer to a few. I have a behaviorist coming for eval but not sure will be able to afford that route. Any helpful suggestions or anyone with aromatherepy knowledge for pets.

My male dog shows many of those behaviours too.I can sympathize. After many attempts on our part to socialize him we have found that the best path is for the handler to remain calm positive and low key.We have accepted our boy is never going to be completley "over it".We avoid situations that will put him in a position he can't emotionally deal with.I can say that over time as his confidence builds (through learning tricks and practicing obedience skills) our dog has become increasingly better. It is very fortunate for your pup that he landed with someone who can understand him.I wish you the best of luckBig Smile
