    Dog Booties

Does anyone have suggestions for a good set of dog booties? The salt and snow makes winter walking very unpleasant for my guys... they've mastered the art of hopping down the street, lol.

I am looking for booties that would be good for walking on slushy streets as well as running through deeper snow.

The local pet store has these rubber things you put over the paws. They look like they will definitely stay put, but not sure about the comfort level, while other more comfortable looking booties look like they would fall right off.

    Thanks for any suggestions!!

very comfy.  inexpensive.  not waterproof by any means but will provide barrier between flesh and ice/salt etc.  Baily wears them without issue and they stay on despite running/playing like a lunatic.

Have them, hate them. They definitely cheap, but still not even worth the money. They had holes in them within the first couple uses. And I dremel his nails 1-2x per week, they are short and round with no sharp edges, the holes were NOT from his nails. The holes were on the bottom of the foot and the sides, just from running around on grass and in the snow.

I found some Ruffwear Grip Trex boots really cheap (used, but still new condition) a few months ago, so I tried them out. I really like them so far, the bottom is really grippy so he doesn't slip and even though the boot isn't waterproof, it does keep his feet mostly dry (the bottom is waterproof, the top is not). Only problem I have with them is the boots rub his dewclaws on his front feet. Putting socks on his feet help, or wraping a small strip of vetwrap around his ankle to keep the dewclaw from getting pulled.  Overall, definitely a good quality dog boot.

I know "Muttluks" are very popular, especially in pet stores, but I personally have never had any luck with them. I don't like the design, every dog I ever used them on never seemed to fit right, and the boots constantly fell off and got ripped easily.

we don't care for the muttluks style either, they just wouldn't stay on.

We have neopaws - it was tricky getting the right size, and they take a bit to get on, but they work pretty well.  Sammy doesn't run like a lunatic with them on too often, but they stay on for walks and such.  We tried the thicker, heavier duty ones and that was overkill for his smaller paws so we ended up with the normal, regular-duty ones.

We recently got our first pair of dog boots so I have nothing to compare them to.

We got the muttluks and they seem to work well; but I have to cinch the velcro really tight or they can fall off.

If we are just walking they stay on. If she tries to play with her boyfriend and jump on his head...they have been known to fall off.

I have two sets of these http://www.ultrapaws.com/images/303R_L350.jpg and they're pretty good, only had issues with them coming off when they weren't tight enough - which is a triail and error thing, so you don't over tighten them. I also have a pair of the ruffwear ones, they're the nicest ones, didn't get to use them much though ( probably will be selling them) Also have tied two sets of leather ones from a gun dog website - good for breath-ability & comfort. I was always worried about their feet sweating in the other ones, and I feel like leather is a bit better as insulating ( i was worried about hot pavement, not cold snow). MIght be selling those also. All my stuff is too big for my Zoe bug!!

We buy them from there by the thousand (s) every season. You need to be sure you're purchasing a heavier fabric if your expectation is frequent use. They give all sort of options, I recommend a heavier Cordura for a great, afforable booty from them... the thin ones are fine, but don't expect them to last more than one of two runs, theya re not designed too... they are made cheap enough so us mushers can afford to lose them all over the trails :)
