    Ultrasonic bark control

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find many threads on it.

Has anyone been successfull with bark devices that emit a high-pitched tone instead of shocking the dog? I'm skeptical whether they work or not.  When I take Piper to my apartment next semester I am afraid her barking will anger my neighbors. She barks constantly when I leave, so she must have some sort of anxiety about being alone.

She is an extremely timid dog, so I am afraid a shock/vibration collar will make her even more afraid of things.

My concern is that the ultrasonic pitch will damage her hearing?

I moved this to the Training Tools section - search this section, as I'm pretty sure this has come up before.

Edit - yep, it has.  Here are a couple of threads:

I have yet to have any lasting success with the any of the ultrasonic bark control devices and have tried several different ones. They may work for the first day or so but the dogs seem to quickly learn to tune them out.
