    The Improving Cesar Millan?

    http://thedish.sitstay.com/

I just watched a recording of Cesar Millan’s the Dog Whisperer, the most recent show. It was good. The most amazing thing was what he said at the end of the show.

I’m paraphrasing here but it was much like this:

“I am learning and changing how I work with the dogs. I am happy to be changing the way I work with dogs as I learn better ways.”

Hallelujah! Maybe the change really is coming. I’m happy to see it, Cesar! -

A very strong note here. Please do not use the past shows as training aids and help. Cesar seems to be moving to positive training with his new shows and it seems that he wants you to know that. I hope that he pulls his old episodes from TV and from the Internet. He seems to genuinely be headed the better direction. He wouldn’t do that if he still believed that his old ways were better. I hope that he follows through. Darc

I've also noticed that the newer It's Me or the Dog episodes mention don't look at the dog, don't talk to the dog, etc--much like CM's "no touch, no talk, no eye contact."  And, she's enforced walking the dogs more than I thought she did initially.

I like watching them both and somewhere in the middle is the answer.

It's weird how some people like the one who wrote the blog tends to think that "better ways" means "positive" techniques, aka "what you were doing before was wrong and what you might do now is better because that's the way I think it should be". Kind of close minded in my opinion.

Well what do you think it means?

There is also this post stating "Cesar Millan has requested a symposium with the world's leading positive dog trainers in response to mounting pressure and the (rumored) possibility of losing his contract with NatGeo." http://community.dog.com/forums/t/104155.aspx

I think that to be able to know what he exactly means we would have to ask him.

He didnt request the symposyum, he was invited:

I dont think he will "loose his contract" with NatGeo as is one of the most sucessful shows in that channel (they asked for 55 episodes this season) and it might reach a bigger audience as is being discussed here:

I think there is mounting pressure on Millan, from a lot of organizations and people, to change his ways.  The American Humane Association recently met with him and Nat Geo.  Apparently, he is planning to go to the AHA symposium, where he will be exposed to some of his critics' points of view.  Guess we'll see.

I have a question that I think is related. If CM infuses more +R in his training, either from tv market pressure or from a personal change in training, what will the fans who so loved his use of the physical punishment regimen do? Who will be the next alpha-rolling hero if CM "falls from grace" as the father of "tssst"?

They'll probably latch on to Fred Hassen instead. Ick!

That same question was asked here:
