Yes--my sister's chow hurt my Mom's senior Dobie more times than we've wanted to remember. My sister moved in and didn't want her chow to be separated from the other dogs, but that chow wanted to be the boss and she tore up (literally) our doberman over that.
She also attacked my hound one day and after that, I've never let another dog around her. She meant/means business. Very scary.
PS--I just wanted to say, as an aside, how much you've helped me out, Mudpuppy. Because of one or two little things you've pointed out, everything has changed for my terrier (and me, of course). Thank you.
Edit to say that my sister's chow HAD to be separated and even though she (sister) wasn't happy, it was my Mom's place, after all, and it was her dog doing the damage.
