A lot of correction-based methods give you an immediate sense of control and power, and I think that is a big part of their appeal. PR methods ask you to be patient and give your dog some control of his own behavior, and that is not always easy, in fact it can be downright frightening if not being in control frightens you.
Yes! how well said. There are so many dog owners (and trainers) who think that a well-behaved dog is one that has been brutalized into shutting down and never doing anything on its own intitative. These people should buy remote-controlled airplanes and cars to play with instead of living breathing thinking animals.
