    Help!

Hi everyone! This is the first time I've posted anything so I hope Im doing this right. Im sorry if it gets posted in the wrong thread by accident. I have a 2.5 year old female husky and a 1 year old pitbull. Both are house trained and are able to go without any accidents for quite sometime. However sometimes at night if they are not sleeping in our room the husky will pee and poo in the house even after she has gone out and done her business. Is she trying to tell me something? The pit was housetrained very fast but lately hes been peeing too. I dont know what to do. Im worried that the husky is influencing the other dog. Does that happen? It feels like they are regressing. Right now all of us are in a hotel, cause we are working out of town. They go on more walks then ever just so we dont mess up the hotel and they are still making a mess. If this doesnt stop soon we might get kicked out so HELP PLEASE!!! By the way, for the first few days when we were in the hotel there was no problem but it seems like one is developing. Thank you for any advice that you may be able to give.

It just sounds like they aren't housetrained. Dogs don't generalize well, and they don't speak english so they can't tell us how they look at the world. They may have learned that it's not okay to pee/poo in your house, but haven't made the connection that this rule also applies to this hotel where you're staying. Or there may be some other confusing aspect to your situation right now that is making the gaps in their housetraining knowledge more apparent.

They are not trying to tell you something--dogs don't think like that, which is yet another reason to love them.

It sounds stressful, but I would relax and go back to housetraining 101. The only thing they are trying to tell you is that they don't know where it's OK to poo and pee. You need to teach them.

Mistakes are your fault, not theirs. Set them up to pee and poo exactly where you want them to and confine them to crates when you can't watch them directly. Don't let them out of your sight in the hotel, praise like mad for going outside and don't scold them if/when they make mistakes.

Thank you for your advice except that once in awhile the husky does go in our house but more often in the hotel. They cry like crazy when they are in a crate and it makes WAY too much noise for the hotel. We both work nights so typically we've been feeding them when we get home and then taking them out after they eat. Im going to try and change their feeding schedule and maybe that would work better. Any other suggestions?

Your dogs aren't housetrained. Housetrain them. Be religious about it.

Ok, so what is the best way to housetrain them. I guess there was a mistake in my training the husky earlier. Last night there were no accidents and this morning either. Im happy about that but I know I still have a way to go. Is it normal for her to regress like that cause like I said, she had no problems before

What kind of kibble are you feeding?
Some dogfood produces bigger and more poops, and could cause them to have to go more often.

Yes its normal.  The way dog learn is context specific and stress is also a factor.  Have you tried doing a forum search on this topic?
