From what I've understood, CM has always been a believer in +R training, but first he attends to the dog's needs and it's place in the human scheme of things.

Yeah, I know.[:D]  The red alert was meant for people that think he's exclusivley yank n' krank[;)]

RED ALERT! RED ALERT! Last nights Dog Whisperer featured a clicker trainer! Yes, it's true! Cesar recommended a clicker trainer to show firemen how to teach their firehouse dalmation to stop, drop and roll to show school kids what to do if they catch fire.

I finally got to watch that episode, I LOVED IT! The Wilshire one. What a great dog and what a great life for a dog. It was a great episode, and I fell in love w/ that puppy and CM did a great job w/ him . But he was a really smart dog, as proof when the trainer said
I 'd like to make him a Hollywood dog.

My heart just melted when I was watching Wilshire. He was SO MUCH like our Dal at the same age. Blackhawk is 12 1/2 and pretty slow now, but he was so OBNOXIOUS as a pup! I *almost* miss that!

I loved last week's episode as well. It touched my heart that the  firemen were so dedicated to  Wilshire. That they did not give up on him and what a wonderful dog he turned out to be! I learned some new training methods from CM as well.

I missed the first dog in last night's show, so I'll have to catch that on re-run.

I thought the segment with Lilly the poodle was nicely done with all the kids around.  He showed those little kids how to be in control over a big dog that normally knocks them down.  Much of it just being a new attitude and some boundaries.  Also, that poodle was absolutely gorgeous and I think I have now fallen in love with the Standard Poodle breed!

Your Mastiff would eat that Poodle for breakfast!![:D]

Yeah, last nights show was mainly about owners needing to change their attitudes and the way they interact with their dogs.  The woman with the two shepard mixes didn't have their prong collars on right.  If you're going to use them, they should be fit correctly.  Fitting them correctly probably would have helped her with walking them easier.

I've noticed Cesar doesn't talk about the importance of the walk as much anymore.  My girlfriend used to complain that every show was the same; WALK YOUR DOG, problem solved!  I wonder if he stresses "the walk" off camera.  That Boarder Collie mix might have done well with a dogpack.

I know what are you talking about, before he was always walking the dog first to make him look Cesar as leader and then working on the problem, now he just goes right at the point, maybe is the editing, in his seminar 2 saturdays ago he was still talking about the importance to walk your dog

I bet Kato would be afraid of that rambuncious poodle at first!  He'd immediately cower to it, then start to bark a  bit and then play.  He loves other dogs off leash, just not on leash.

Our first Mastiff, Max, ran into a Chihuahua on a walk once and I can still remember him jumping up with all four feet off the ground scared to death of this little dog!  It was hilarious and he almost knocked my husband over trying to get away and hide behind him.  That episode taught me never to underestimate the power of a Chihuahua!!
