We've had our dog, Snoopy, three years this month, he was a shelter rescue at about 6 months, he's fixed. He's great with the kids (10, 7, and 19 months), he lets us know when he needs to go out. He's been through some obedience training, and is pretty good most of the time. He does like to grab the kids stuff animals sometimes, but they gave him stuffed animals at the shelter, so he thinks they are his, but he drops them when told to and goes back to his bone.
The big problem is when he comes back inside. We have an invisible fence system, and when we take his collar off anywhere but the porch or his kennel, he pees on the floor. He even does it when we take his regular collar with his tags for a bath.
He never does it when we put the collar on. Someone suggested he was getting zapped, but he's not, either putting it on or taking it off - we'd notice. I finally convinced my husband to pull up our carpet, because I was tired of the pee in the carpet lol (There were other reasons, too, but that helped convince him).
Thoughts? It's driving us crazy! He never goes in the house, even if he's been inside all day, except when we take off the collar. He doesn't always like to go out in the winter, if there's a lot of snow - we think some fell off the roof and spooked him, he shakes when he hears it slide off the roof. So the issue isn't that he needs to go - it happens after he's been outside most of the day (when it's nice out, he loves to run around the yard and chase squirrels most of the day).
