Sometimes it's taken her 20 minutes to go pee, but yesterday she was really quick, so I'm hoping that's progress!
Am I the only one who feels like the girls take sooo much longer to decide on a spot/time to pee or poop? The boys in our house are in and out. Gracie could take upwards of 20 minutes and multiple trips in/out if given the choice (especially with cooler temps).
Just an aside, not that this applies to your dog, but two things came to my mind (I worked in shelters for years and saw lots of odd behaviors) One in particular was a dog who refused to pee/poop on anything other than concrete. Grass, gravel, whatever freaked her out. She wasn't abused either, just underexposed to conditions we take for granted. Made us pause and think about things from her perspective. Also, when house-training we were taught to give the dog a command "Get busy", "Hurry up" or whatever to signal we expected a behavior from them (then prrraaaiiise just like you described), but we also went to one designated spot and stood there like a tree if necessary to encourage the dog to do its business rather than getting distracted or trying to play. Going to this one spot, hearing the command "Hurry!" meant - time to pee or poop.
