    Similar texture to Bil Jac??????

Is there ANYTHING? Jewel, my picky IG foster dog, gobbles down Bil Jac like it's nothing, as long as I throw a couple of goodies in her bowl. I've quit soaking and fussing over the kibble. It's great! She's getting three, good sized meals a day, now. She's gained muscle, and she's starting to look like a healthy dog. I'm not positive that it's the texture, but she definitely likes Bil Jac better than anything else (including canned) that I've given her. Is there something with a nicer ingredients list that's SUPER easy on the mouth? For those who aren't familiar with it, Bil Jac is shaped like rabbit pellets, and is very soft and crumbly.

I wouldn't change, but they've recently changed their formula, reducing the quality and increasing the price of their products. I'm worried that I won't get the old, great results that Bil Jac has always given me (it is well known as great for putting on weight and coat!). I'd really like to see her on decent quality kibble. It doesn't have to be super premium, holistic (because, hey, I don't buy that for the others! LOL), just a decent food.

Hmm. I can't think of any that are as soft as Bil-Jac.  I didn't know they changed their ingredients!  I did like that food so much before the girls had pancreatitis attacks on it and Gobie lost handfuls of hair on it. I wonder how long ago they changed their formula?

Well, the stores still have a few of the old bags. The new bags are a pound lighter, and cost the same. There is less chicken in them. Not thrilling.

What about those Natural Balance rolls? The ones that look like salami? I've only ever bought the tiny ones as training treats - are the larger ones economically feasible to use as a main food source?

    Hi Jennie_c_d,

I wanted to get in touch with you about your concern for Bil-Jac's enhanced formula and new packaging. As a member of the communications team we know how important it is to continue giving your best friend proper nutrition.  Bil-Jac has updated it's packaging and added even more fresh chicken.  The enhanced formula boosts Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids and contains more real fresh chicken than any other dog food.  I would love to get you in touch with Bil-Jac's animal nutritionist if you have further questions.

Feel free to reach me at BilJac@rmdadvertising.com

    Thanks,

Angela, I've always been very happy with Bil Jac's products. They seem more palatable than most anything, and I've used them for putting weight and coat onto my rescues and show dogs. I'm just unsure and unthrilled about the new formula. It looks like LESS chicken, to me, and I've been reading labels for years and years. I've also made my own dog food for years, and used the services of a canine nutritionist, so I'm not a novice label reader.

Cita, I saw those, today, and looked at them. They're not super cheap. In Nov, The Bean and I have a show in Savannah. If Jewel is still around, I'll probably pick up some Redbarn rolls. For now, I have an "old" bag of Bil Jac senior that should last her quite some time. She doesn't eat much, but DANG, she loves this food!
