Does anyone feed this food?  I just found it at a local store here and I'm gonna give it a shot.  They have a Buy 10 Bags, get the next free program and its not a bad price.  The ingredients look ok to me, but I'm rather out of practice reading dog food ingredients, having fed raw for the last year or so.  Budget decrees I have to work kibble back into the diet so I'm on the lookout for good foods.  I can also get Merrick's Before Grain locally, and Solid Gold, but for good foods, that's about it.  Oh and Wellness.

Both of the local pet store owners have been trying to get Orijen in for some time, but apparently the salesman is a real piece of work, so neither have been able to get it.

So opinions on this Horizon stuff would be appreciated.

If that were available here, I'd totally feed it!  Looks like it's kind of a kitchen sink food because they add so many supplements/nutraceuticals, but overall I'd def give it a try.

Thanks.  We'll see how it goes.  I like that its a smallish company and Canada grown and manufactured.  That's why I like Orijen, but again, can't get that here.

I like it better than Orijen. Only complaint is that most of my dogs needed so little of it compared to the feeding guidelines that I took to supplementing their vitamins/minerals! That's not a bad thing in my view though. Pet Tabs are way cheaper than extra food!

Oh, I never even thought of that.  Maybe I'll go pick some up after work today.  Just a multivitamin?  I have kids chewables...would they work? Stick out tongue

Candace, I'm not sure kid's vitamins wouldn't work, except I wanted to remind you to check the type of sweetener used in them.

Hmm...Ok, so I have a bottle of childrens chewable vitamins, no artificial sweeteners, no Xylitol.  Will they work?  And can I just give them each one?  Or should I crush it up or pill them or what?  Just so you know, they'll eat whatever I give them just so the other can't get it, so I know they'd eat them if I just handed them to them, but will it break down in their systems?  Or would it be better to crush it up and put it in something else?  They likely won't chew it, just gulp it down whole.

Just hand them out like treats! I often share the gummy vites I take myself with the puppers. Just one per dog per day will top them off. Yes, check for artificial sweeteners of all types. I prefer ones sweetened with juice for me and my kids anyway. Just a note, howver, for some dogs the vitamin B and zinc will leave an unpleasant enough aftertaste that they will start refusing them. It is better to use vites flavored for pets for that reason. These are not necessarily any better "balanced." just better tasting! ;)

Good to know Becca.  They've been eating them like troopers.  They seem to enjoy their new food, but I have to cut both of them back even more I think.  I'm starting to see a gain in them already and its been what 3 days?  Crazy.
