Orijen= diarrhea? Help! (BlackLabbie)

    • Puppy

     I'm curious to read your post. My friend has a newfie, and he was fed ORIJEN 6 FISH from the very start, all was good... but lately he has runny stool and often (I know, because I help babysit, walk, etc.)

    So I wonder. Did they change the formula? Maybe some spoiled shipment

    No formula change to my knowledge.  I bought my most recent bag just a couple weeks ago, and it's the same as always.

    It is possible that particular bag was spoiled...ask your friend if it smells any different than usual.  I always smell it when I open a new bag...since there are no artificial preservatives, if the bag happened to get a small hole in it in shipping, it can go rancid.

    I'd also wonder if anything else has changed recently in this dog's life.  Is he getting any different kinds of treats or snacks?  Did he get into something he shouldn't have?  Has he been to the vet recently (checked for worms or giardia)?  It might be worth taking in a fecal sample to be tested...giardia is easily ingested and can cause icky poops.

    Actually, Orijen has recently undergone a formula change---at least in their adult formula as well as the fresh fish formula.  You compare the ingredients from their website to the original ingredient list (not yet updated) on the DogfoodProject.com website.
