I used to use the Wellness version. I liked the ingredients better and it was cheaper. But, with many dogs, it made more sense to put my money into directed supplements. Flax seed isn't that great for all dogs (the primary omega 3 source for these products). I had a dog that was actually allergic to stuff in the "kitchen sink" supplements. So I got into the habit of simply asking, "What particular issue am I addressing?" for each dog.
All my dogs do get high quality fish oil (Seapet Gold) and probiotics. 8 dogs get these, and one 16 oz bottle of the fish oil lasts a month, and the NOW 4x6 lasts two and a half or three months.
But I supplement in a directed fashion for anything else. For example:
Maggie: She gets half a Glyco-Flex III for some stiffness she gets in her front end (tendonitits).
Lu: Also gets a Glyco Flex III, plus evening primrose oil because she's on a diet very low in omega 6s.
Cord: Evening primrose oil because he doesn't seem to process lineoleic acid well
Gus: Nothing extra
Zhi: Seperate 3-6-9 supplement - Nordic Naturals for kids.
Ted: Potassium supplement, as he seems to need extra potassium to maintain good condition
Jetta: Nothing extra
Sam: Nothing extra
