Goat's Milk

    Goat's Milk

I've been giving the girls a raw meal on occasion.  I'm still researching, but I would like to go to a completely raw diet at some point in the near future.

I was pricing sources, and ran accross goat's milk as a product offering.  Would this be beneficial to an adult dog's diet? Or is this for puppy supplementation?

Would my cat enjoy this as an occasional treat?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences with it and it's place in (or not in) a dog's diet.

I feel like the point of raw is to provide fresh foods that are more or less in the natural range of a canid diet. For people who have easy access to inexpensive dairy products, they can be a valuable addition.

But I don't go out of my way to offer dairy to my dogs. I use string cheese as a convenient training treat but that's it. I'm not even a big fan of yogurt as a probiotic source - targeted, concentrated products are a much more cost-effective way to offer probiotic support to a dog.

I've used goat's milk to fatten up a skinny dog, but in general, I don't feed dairy, either. Think of how much weight a baby goat has to gain! I don't want to be fattening my healthy weight dogs, LOL.

    Thanks to both of you!

That makes sense.  I might let the girls try it as a treat sometime, but I think we'll not have it a regular component of their diet.
