Changing from Innova Lg breed puppy food to........?

Campbell the nearly 10 month old boxer pup (with a bad heart) has been on Innova for ages and she wants to change him to something else.  He gets about 4.5 cps of Innova and is a good weight, nice and lean. That is about 1600 kcals a day.  He has no known allergies. I know she won't move over to super-premium (she knows I use Orjen) and he gets oodles of fish oil so she is thinking of using a non-fish based food.

    so bring on the suggestions

There's quite a few lg breed puppy food options that aren't *too* super duper premium (ie grain free.)

    - Wellness Super5Mix Puppy Large Breed Formula

    - Artemis Fresh Mix Medium/Large Breed Puppy

    - Blue Buffalo Puppy Large Breed

    - Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul Large Breed Puppy

If she were to use Orijen, they too make a large breed puppy food, and she would only have to feed half the amount she is now.

At 10 months of age, I would be putting Campbell on an ALS food...no more puppy food.

If she liked Innova and he did well on it...try Eagle Pack Holistic.  Or maybe she wants to go grain free with Taste of the Wild or Blue Buffalo.

Wellness, Blue Buffalo, or Canidae would be the way that I'd go.  The prices, at least here, are similar to Innova, & they are all nice, middle of the road, diets.

Wellness has way too much grain, IMHO

Another Blue fan here. The Wilderness is almost grain free- I think it uses oatmeal or something along those lines.

I'm super impressed with what it's done for my dog(s). I'd love to use Orijen, but I can't justify the price when BB is doing so well.

Eagle Pack Holistic is a great food and one of my all time favorites.

My drawback to using Blue buffalo is it has barley and rye in it. ....or is it oats and rye, can't remember. But I've got one dog who's ears will go instant red with oats, barley and rye.

This same dog is now on a lamb based diet for a few weeks to rule out intolerances to chicken.
