    Canidae grain free anyone?

I can't get my hands on Orjen and the price went up again so decided I would see what else is out there for the beast. I was tempted to get Canidae grain free salmon but decided against it because of the potato protein being listed so high.

Anyone try it or have input on it?  Thanks

I decided to try TOTW fish formula

I don't love the peas at the top of the list, either, but I have to say  that I'm totally impressed by the number of foods available that Emma "could" potentially eat.

I spent some time with the Canidae rep at the last show I went to, and he gave me free bags of the grain free, both salmon and chicken varieties.  I'll be totally honest, he didn't give me enough to last for a true feeding test, but the dogs really enjoyed it, and I noticed no ill-effects.

Long story short, though, its ingredients can't beat Orijen's imo, so on Orijen rotation my pups will stay.

I've got to see if the lady in Raleigh has some Orjen fish in the large bag - last time I got it with free shipping which was fairly reasonable.  Lots of places have raised it to $80 a bag - great product but that is an awful lot for kibble.

Between the potato protein and peas I stay away from the Canidae (and the other problems people have had with other formulas)

So, okay.  They produced a food that is not as good as the Diamond product and they are charging more?  Nice strategy there.

I do like the ALS though.

What reaction is he getting from TOTW?  Is it allergy related, or something else?  I'm just curious, as I'm a big Orijen fan, and have never tried TOTW but considered it.

Bugsy does best on lots of protein, he needs to eat less, better energy (more stable on higher protein), and less poop.  He is pooping tons and his energy is less stable (think hyperactive kid on sugar LOL).  I can also tell that I will need to feed a ton to keep his weight level.

I don't think it is related to the addition of the thyroid med - I can see what that is doing but this is separate.

It actually looks a lot like Orjen and he loves it - the main issue for him is that the protein is lower than is best for him.
