Wish I did too; anyway, we were walking at the park a few days ago when we saw Sunny and her mom. Sunny is a Lab and a good buddy of Jessie's. We hadn't seen them in several months; most people here don't walk their dogs in the winter. Sunny's mom commented about how good Jessie looked and said she looked younger. I asked what she meant by younger and she said Jessie had less gray on her face. After thinking about it, I realized she does have less gray on the sides of her face and around her eyes than she used to. I should mention that she's 10 years old. I tried to take some pictures to include in my post but not being such a whiz with digital cameras (or any camera), they were blurry. The pics in my avatar and profile were taken by DH. As for why less gray; according to what I've been able to find out, diets high in omega 3's, b vitamins, folic acid, and zinc may slow down or in some cases reverse the progression of hair turning gray. Jessie's been on a prescription diet for atopic dogs and it's high in those nutrients and other ingredients to nourish her skin and coat like curcumin, aloe vera, anchovy oil and borage seed oil.
Some of you know I was homecooking and may be wondering why I stopped; she was having some ear infections and chewing her feet. It looks like she may be allergic to the main protein source in her cooked diet; turkey. I tried reintroducing the cooked diet and she started chewing her feet again. Anyway, I thought it was interesting that a dog food could reduce gray hair and thought I'd share.
