Since Misha does so well on it, I'm probably going to add some to his food once it gets warmer and I'm more willing to spend time outside. It doesn't really give him useless, obnoxious (sugar-high) energy... he's just more willing to keep going for as long as I am. I did the numbers on Before Grain's website, which actually allows you to order at cost, without charging shipping. The cost is the same (in an ideal world) as what you would pay in a store. I did the numbers and, for the dry food, it's cheaper to order the one pound bags individually than it is to order the 25.3 lb bag. All these prices come from the Buffalo food - the chicken is a little cheaper (in the bigger bags, the 1lb bags all cost the same, which may make the difference), the salmon more expensive.
1.0 lb bag: $2.49 - $2.49 per lb (the case of twelve 1lb bags costs the same per pound)
6.6 lb bag: $22.27 - $3.37 per lb (approximately)
11.1lb bag: $32.42 - $2.92 per lb (approximately)
25.3lb bag: $63.61 - $2.51 per lb (approximately)
So, if you buy two cases of the twelve 1lb bags (24 lbs total) instead of the 25.3lb Buffalo bag, you'd be saving $3.37... which adds up quickly if you're feeding a Mighty Mutt... not so quickly if you're feeding a terrier.
