    Wellness

I found a place that sells Wellness, and it is expensive, gaa, anyway, I won't be able to get that brand of food for a few months to a year(maybe more).

Anyway, has anyone used it? Do you like it? I'm still switching to Diamond for now(because I'm not paying for food right now) but I'd like to put Sam(and the kitties too) on the best thing I can get.

I think Core might be to high in protien for him, seeing as he doesn't have a "job"....I don't need an overweight Labby! LOL!

All of the Wellness dry foods have given my dogs gas, but I like the cans. Lots of people have good luck with it. The CORE fish isn't too high protein, and they make a reduced fat version, as well.

I'm not sure if they sell CORE at this store, but they do sell Wellness and Wellness Natural.

Oh, please. Less stink? Where? LOL Yesterday, on the way home from the dog show, Ena decided to have gas. We had to open  the windows, in the rain, lol!

I'm still switching to Diamond for now

Diamond is now making Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover's Soul.It has a similar ingredient list.It might be a lower cost alternative to Wellness for now and is probably carried where Diamond's other foods are sold.

Hey there, I hope this makes sense. I dont look at whats the best food out there! But whats the best food out there that my dog can handle! LOL. Ruger has been on Kirkland for the longest of time, then I added Innova EVO Red Meat to put in protein in his diet. He did well and loves it. I slowly changed the kibble to the wellness and wow, he does not like it at all, he tried it and got gas, icky poop the works. So I put him back on his mix of kirkland and EVO. So yeah, its all about what your dog can handle. =P

Yup! I've been thinking of several different brands to try. I'll stick with what works for Sam, but I'd like to know of th ebetter brands to try.

    • Gold Top Dog

Totally agree with you. I have some friends that after hearing that so and so brand is the best they immedietly go out and buy it, Dog doesnt like it but they insist on feeding it to them because its labeled the best. I try telling them that the best brand is the brand your dog can handle the best. There are a lot of great brands out there, but not all of them are for your dog.

This site probably been posted many times before, but it works wonders. It shows almost all the brands and has great reviews.

Sammy's handled Wellness just fine for about a month or so.... and for a few weeks before that on and off with homecooked.  We normally fed the chicken though we also had a bag of the fish.  We figured out he has allergies to lamb so we have some of that left....

But, if I hadn't gotten the 6 lb bags BOGO (still 6.49 each) I probably wouldn't have ever tried it..... we have a local PSP that has had holistic foods BOGO the past few months.... Wellness, Natural Balance Ultra, Merrick etc so I'm probably just going to rotate if they keep it up.  We just bought 75 lbs of Merrick (at roughly $12.50/15lbs) last week though so I'm set for a bit.

I've never fed the regular Wellness line, but I feed Wellness Core, and my crew has done well on it.

    • Gold Top Dog

Wellness is a really good food! IMO, Chicken Soup is equally good and costs less.

    • Gold Top Dog

My dogs do/did do good on it. Some foods do give them gas but not this one so I think it depends on your dog.

The SuperMix varieties seem to be like the "new" Canidae, some dogs do well on it, some do really terrible.  It would be interesting to know why.  I really, really like the Core line though.  It is my choice when I have to feed kibble except for Lynn, who really has to have a super digestible food (she eats Eagle Pack Senior at those times, like when I was totally unable to do their food).

Tractor Supply has Chicken Soup I think.  They have a few of the Naturals line which I think are really underrated, and they also carry the Taste of the Wild.

Cool, thanks for the relpies everyone.

Becca, our only TSC is in the neighboring county. Which sucks 'cuz I love going there. I always stand and drool at the bridles for horse. LOL! But, it's good to know that they carry that line
