So you have to ask yourself what benefit you hope to get from the thing you are adding. I don't use yogurt for probiotics. Probiotics don't travel through the dog's stomach well so you have to use a really intense product to get the benefit to the gi (small intestine). But I do use yogurt because it is yummy! It's nice as an additive to stews and frozen treats. The whole milk version is the best - with the cream on the top, yum.
Cottage cheese is super palatable because it's salty and the full fat version is fatty. It's a good source of calories from fat and protein. It's a great thing to add to food to increase its palatability. It is high in sodium though, so if you need a low sodium version try low sodium ricotta cheese.
