    Collards?

Just picked up some canned collards from wally world - no added salt just collards and water

I usually use green beans but looking to widen the scope - he also gets steamed frozen spinach

when he gets a raw meal I usually mix some greens with sweet potato, potato, oatmeal or rice

Since he only has a few raw meals a week at the most I am not too worried about this being balanced.  But dont' want anything too out of whack

So is it a Yes for collards?

I hope so then I can feed DH nearly the same meal Wink

Collard greens are great.  I used to use them a lot to balance things and still like them for doggy treats.  We like them ourselves - they are the only slimy green veggie the kids will eat.  Slurp.

Cool - I love collards but even at the State Farmer's Market they aren't terribly cheap and of course they take some fixin' - more than I want to do just for B anyway and we like ours a bit spicy with onion and crushed red pepper in the cooking

Besides these cans are 50 cents and already cooked - great value!

Hoping to get my freezer today (order it that is Big Smile )

Most any greens are great -- turnip greens, mustard greens, cow slips, endive, spinach, swiss chard, on to the hardier ones like kale (which is more a cabbage than a green).  The only caution is if you have an arthritic dog you have to be careful of the oxalic acid in some greens.  (*sigh* and spinach is MY favorite veg and I can't eat any of it).
